About the Kits

Through funds provided by a Public Library Collection Development Grant, the Heartland Regional Library was able to add these preschool concept kits to our collection. The kits are designed to aid children ages 3-kindergarten to develop or improve skills or concepts in specific areas. Subjects covered are: letters, colors, shapes, numbers, manners, animals, plants, foods, anatomy, feelings, reading comprehension, community helpers, transportation, rhyming, five senses, and music /rhythm. Each kit contains books, and may contain any of the following: DVD, CD, manipulatives specific to the subject.  The kits are designed to be used by preschool or Headstart teachers, child care or daycare providers, and parents to improve or enhance a specific skill or knowledge. Circulation period per kit is three weeks. The need for information or enhancement in these developmental areas for younger children has been an expressed concern from several sources including schools and early childhood providers. The library hopes that by providing these resource kits it can aid in addressing this concern. Anyone interested may contact the library for more information or visit a one of the branch libraries.
