Heartland Regional Library is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Branch Manager to lead our team and ensure excellent service to our patrons located in Eldon, MO.

Job Objective: As a Branch Manager, you will perform professional librarian duties, including public service, program development, and providing training and direction to patrons, staff, and volunteers. Your role is crucial in fostering a welcoming and resourceful environment for our community.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all branch operations, ensuring procedures meet patrons' needs.

  • Perform opening and closing procedures, manage circulation, interlibrary loans, and reference services.

  • Prepare for and facilitate library events and activities.

  • Provide guidance and supervision to staff and volunteers.

  • Operate and provide instruction on the computerized library system and other online services.

  • Handle patron inquiries and complaints with professionalism.

  • Maintain and weed the library collection, ensuring it remains well-balanced.

  • Develop and maintain strong community relationships.

  • Market the library’s services and programs effectively.

  • Maintain the branch's overall appearance and orderliness.

  • Prepare and submit required reports in a timely manner.

  • Stay informed about new library services and trends.

  • Sort and distribute mail, check in periodicals, and manage overdue notices.

  • Create and advertise library events and displays.

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Superior interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Ability to work with diverse personalities and exhibit sound judgment.

  • Proficiency in general computer use, including library software and Microsoft products.

  • Competence in operating office equipment.

  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills.

 

Physical and Mental Requirements:

  • Effective communication skills in English, both oral and written.

  • Good hearing and vision for interacting with patrons and managing library materials.

  • Manual dexterity for operating a keyboard and handling library materials.

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift materials as required.

  • High attention to detail and concentration on work tasks.

 

Work Environment:

  • 40 hours per week.

  • Indoor setting with occasional evening and weekend hours.

  • Professional and flexible demeanor when interacting with patrons and staff.

  • Ability to tolerate dust from library materials.

 

Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent.

  • Demonstrated customer service experience.

  • Strong interest in reading and library services.

Are you passionate about promoting reading and literacy in your community? Do you thrive in dynamic environments where you can collaborate, innovate, and lead? The Heartland Regional Library is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Services Coordinator and Programmer to join our team.

Position: Services Coordinator and Programmer (40 hour week) in Maries County.
 

Job Summary: As a Services Coordinator and Programmer, you will work closely with the Library Director, other services coordinators, branch managers, and staff, as well as the Library Board and local institutions. Your role will involve developing and implementing library and divisional goals that align with our mission. You will analyze and evaluate community needs to provide services that meet educational, informational, and recreational requirements.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and implement services for adults and seniors, including summer reading programs, book clubs, and family literacy programs.

  • Write news releases, prepare articles, and develop promotional materials for the library.

  • Serve as a liaison with community organizations, preschools, schools, adult and senior organizations.

  • Maintain records and statistics related to the library’s collection and patronage.

  • Evaluate and improve library services, determine activities and organize necessary resources.

  • Supervise division staff, develop and update training materials, and provide orientation.

  • Collaborate with community partners and serve on committees to enhance library services.

  • Provide reference and reader advisory services, helping patrons identify and find the resources they need.

  • Order and manage collections, selecting, reviewing, evaluating, and replacing materials as needed.

 

Qualifications:

  • A four-year undergraduate degree is required; a Master’s degree in Library or Information Science is preferred.

  • Strong knowledge of library and information science principles, including reference, collection development, and information delivery systems.

  • Excellent management and supervisory skills.

  • Ability to analyze community needs, develop programs, and allocate resources effectively.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to make effective presentations.

  • Proficiency in computer and library information systems.

  • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed.

  • A valid driver’s license and ability to travel for library business.
